HolyLight Terms of Service

1. Purpose of the service

HolyLight is a Bible study application, with a Christ-centered vision, for mobile devices (Android and iOS) and the web. It allows you to:

  • Read and compare versions of the Bible.
  • Consult the original languages, commentaries, and reference works.
  • Follow devotionals and courses.
  • Prepare Bible studies, lessons, and sermons with guided tools.
  • Talk with an artificial intelligence assistant.

By creating an account or using the application, you accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

3. User account

  • To use most features you need an account. You can create it with your email or with Google, Apple, or Facebook.
  • You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under 18, you need the authorization of your mother, father, or guardian.
  • You are responsible for the information you register and for protecting access to your account.
  • You can delete your account at any time from the application.

4. Plans and payments

  • Free: free of charge, with basic features and limited use of the artificial intelligence assistant.
  • Premium and Ministry: paid subscriptions with additional features. The Ministry plan can be contracted for one person or for teams and churches, according to the number of users.
  • Subscriptions contracted within the application are charged through the Apple App Store or Google Play. They renew automatically at the end of each period, unless you cancel them at least 24 hours in advance from your Apple or Google account settings.
  • Church plans contracted through the web are charged through our payment processor and are canceled from the organization's panel or by email.
  • Refunds of purchases made in the application are governed by Apple's or Google's policies.
  • If we offer a free trial period, the subscription will be charged when it ends, unless you cancel before then.
  • We may change prices. We will notify you in advance and the change will apply from the next renewal.

5. Authorized use and prohibited uses

You may use HolyLight for your spiritual growth, your personal study, and the preparation of teachings for your church, group, or ministry, including the use of the material you prepare in your classes and preaching.

It is not permitted to:

  • Copy, massively extract, or redistribute Bible texts, commentaries, or other content with third-party rights.
  • Use the application for illegal activities, to harass, to spread hatred, or to deceive other people.
  • Attempt to access the platform or other people's accounts without authorization, or introduce malicious code.
  • Use the artificial intelligence assistant to generate illegal or harmful content, or to evade its usage limits.
  • Resell the service without NovAltura's authorization.

NovAltura may restrict or suspend the access of anyone who breaches these rules.

6. Artificial intelligence and theological content

  • The artificial intelligence assistant always cites the Bible references on which it is based, and the verses are shown from the application's Bible texts. Even so, its explanations may contain errors. We recommend that you verify what you read with Scripture and with your church.
  • On topics where there are different positions among Christian traditions, the application seeks to present them with respect.
  • The assistant does not replace the accompaniment of your pastor or your church, or the advice of health, legal, or financial professionals. If you are going through a crisis or a risk situation, immediately seek a professional or the emergency services of your country.
  • The content you prepare with the help of the assistant is yours, and you are responsible for reviewing it before teaching or publishing it.

7. Bible texts and third-party content

  • The Bible versions and reference works are in the public domain or are used under license from their holders. Their rights belong to those holders.
  • The application indicates in each case the version and its copyright notice.
  • Some versions may be available only in certain plans, only with an internet connection, or may stop being available if the license ends.

8. Your content

  • The notes, studies, lessons, sermons, and other content you create belong to you.
  • You grant us only the permission necessary to store it, sync it, and show it to you or to whomever you decide to share it with.
  • We do not publish your content without your authorization.

9. Data protection

The processing of your data is governed by our Privacy Policy: https://holylight.life/en/privacy. NovAltura does not sell personal data.

10. Service availability

We strive to keep the service available. There may be interruptions due to:

  • Maintenance.
  • Technical incidents.
  • Failures of providers or of the application stores.

These interruptions do not give the right to automatic compensation, unless the law or a specific contract so provides.

11. Intellectual property

  • NovAltura retains the rights to the application, its design, its code, and the original content it produces, such as courses, devotionals, and predefined studies.
  • Third-party trademarks belong to their holders.
  • Using the service does not transfer intellectual property rights to you.

12. Suspension or termination

NovAltura may suspend or close an account due to:

  • Breach of these Terms.
  • Security risks.
  • Non-payment.
  • Orders from authorities.
  • Decisions of the application stores.

When possible, we will notify you and give you the opportunity to correct the situation. You may stop using the service and delete your account whenever you wish.

13. Limitation of liability

Within the limits allowed by law, NovAltura is not liable for:

  • Interruptions or errors of the service.
  • Third-party failures.
  • The use made of the content generated by the assistant without due review.
  • The loss of content for reasons beyond NovAltura's control.
  • Decisions made solely on the basis of information from the application.

14. Modifications

We may update these Terms for legal, technical, commercial, or operational reasons. The date of the last update appears at the top. If the changes are important, we will notify you in the application. Continuing to use the service after the notice implies your acceptance, where the law so allows.

15. Applicable law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Costa Rica, without prejudice to the mandatory consumer protection rules of the country where you reside.
